Dedicated servers are provided with either a single IP address or a subnet depending on package.
When selecting additional IP, its important to select the right IP addon for your planned usage.
IP Addon vs Subnet
IP Addons are available on certain servers and limited to 4 per system.
An IP Addon is a /32 IP address (single IP subnet). It is suitable as addon IP for shared hosting or OpenVZ VPS only. It cannot be used with VMWare, XenServer, KVM, HyperV as they have no means to route the IP traffic.
An IP Subnet eg /29 (8 IPs), /28 (16 IPs) can be used for all types of virtualisation or addon IPs for shared hosting
